Yonka Masque no. 1, $53
What it is: A gel-cream mask with delicate floral aromas that provides immediate, time-released, deep hydration. Company claims skin is 54% more hydrated after one hour and 96% after eight hours.
How to use: 1 to 3 times per week after cleansing. Let sit for 20 to 60 minutes as needed, then blot excess with facial tissue. Or for very dehydrated or damaged skin (due to sun, wind, cold, laser treatments), apply the mask in a thin layer and allow to absorb overnight.
What’s in it: Aloe vera, jojoba, sandalwood, vitamins A, C, and E. Bisabol and vitamin B5 to soothe. Essential oils of rose, jasmine, and shiu.
Why I love it: This has been my go-to emergency moisture mask for years now; I was introduced to it in my twenties when I worked at a spa (where it is widely available). The jasmine scent is divine and the hydration this mask provides cannot be matched! I recently used it following a microdermabrasion treatment that left my skin severely parched. Not to mention, I’ve also been using a retinol cream at night that is more aggressive than I’m used to. I love exfoliating regularly but when I go a little overboard, my skin tells me. And that’s when I reach for this mask and use it as an overnight treatment. In the morning my skin appears immediately smoother, softer and plumper. And the effect lasts for a long time, at least for my combination skin. From my experience the 50 ml tube will last you months if you use it as just an overnight treatment when needed. So worth it. It’s gotten rave reviews on MakeupAlley too, check it out here.
