Puffy Eyes Be Gone!

Obagi ELASTIderm Eye Complete Complex Serum, $99

What it is: An eye roller by Obagi Medical that comes with the benefits of caffeine to help reduce puffiness under the eyes. Roller ball technology is said to be taken from the sport of boxing. Boxers use a cold metal object (such as frozen spoons) and roll on the swollen area to reduce the swelling and puffiness.

Why I love it: It’s like coffee to me. I’ve been using it every morning for the past three months – keeping it in the fridge because I love how the cool metal tip feels under the eyes – so refreshing! Upon application, my eyes feel tighter and look less puffier. This eye roller is a godsend when you’ve had a lousy nights’ sleep! What I do on those sleep-deprived days is toss this product into my make up bag and stash it in the fridge at the office, and use it about three times a day or whenever I need a pick-me-up. It dries quickly and doesn’t leave a film.

How it compares: I’ve used many other eye rollers before – from the drugstore, department counters, spas – and can honestly say that this one is worth the splurge. Other eye rollers I’ve tried leaves behind a lot of goopy liquid that doesn’t dry as quickly, which is annoying when you only have 15 minutes in the morning to get ready. This wet effect can make you look like you’ve been crying! Examples: Biotherm, emerginC (an all-natural line sold in spas), and to a degree Clinque’s All About Eyes De-Puffing serum (which isn’t that bad; I consider it a close second to the Obagi). Over time, this eye roller can help reduce darkness when used with a high quality eye cream with brightening ingredients like vitamin C and licorice. In fact, it is just one part of the Obagi eye care line that includes an eye cream containing a bi-mineral complex and malonic acid, which helps replenish your skin with elasticity and support collagen for a tighter, smoother look. On its own though, this eye roller is a night owl’s best friend. Take note new moms, students, and socialites: this stick is your face saver. Nobody will ever know you’ve had a rough night! Godsend, I tell you.
