Foundation-Free Leah

Entertainment reporter Leah Miller is used to getting the scoop on celebrities as a host for E!, Canada’s pop culture channel. Miller has been a familiar face on television since her early days as a bubbly, 20-something MuchMusic VJ. Now all grown up and married to a rock star (Dallas Green of City and Colour), she maintains her spunky edge on the red carpet as she interviews actors, starlets and musicians. Here, Miller gives us the scoop on how she keeps her skin HD-ready for all those close-ups (oh, the pressure!).

The Basics

Your birthplace/where you call home now: Toronto

What drives you in a positive way and in a negative way?

I’ve always been a hard worker, that’s something my parents instilled in me. I’m very honest and try to surround myself with good people; I don’t like negativity and people that are fake. Life is short and negativity takes too much energy.

Describe a typical day for you (from bed to bed).

Wake up, take my dog Alabama for a walk, eat breakfast quick. I usually throw fresh berries in a Ziploc bag and eat them in the car because I’m always rushing to get to work!

What’s your healthy life maintenance routine for:

i) Exercise

I try to go on at least 2 or 3 walks a day with Alabama and when the weather is nice I’ll swim in my pool. Besides that, I don’t do anything…but I should really start!!

ii) Eating

I usually try to eat healthy, and by that I mean lots of fruits, veggies, and lean meats. I’ll make vegetable juice in the morning with lots of greens like kale, spinach, celery, and I’ll throw in a green apple. But I never deprive myself of not-so healthy tasty food either! We have so many great restaurants in our area so I’m usually eating burgers and fries, and chicken wings. And in the summer my husband barbecues every night.

iii) Beautiful skin

Leah’s skincare staples

In the past two years, I’ve really started taking care of my skin. I wear makeup every day when I’m on t.v., so when I’m not working the last thing I want to do is put it on. I wanted to be able to get my skin to the point where I could wake up, wash my face and not have to put a drop of makeup on it. I’ve been seeing dermatologist Dr. Lisa Kellett for two years and she’s changed my skin. I don’t have to wear foundation on t.v. anymore! That’s how clear and even my skin is! I’ll go for microdermabrasion and IPL treatments monthly at her clinic. Sometimes I’ll get Blue Light, which helps prevent acne. And I use all the Kellett products on my face: the scrub, gel moisturizer  and acne treatment.

iv) Fun

Cooking, eating, going to the movies, and watching t.v. on the couch. Basically I’m the happiest when I’m at home.
