The world of dentistry has seen constant and exciting improvements through the years. 2014 was no different.
The most conservative and yet impactful cosmetic dental procedure continues to be tooth whitening. This year has seen the improvement of the delivery systems and on post whitening tooth sensitivity. Easier, faster and more comfortable are the exciting advancements that have occurred this year. With proper professional monitoring, this simple procedure can dramatically change the way one feels about their smile and themselves.
Lasers have also taken front stage in dentistry as they have in many other industries. Smaller, more effective and with more scope of care, these now very portable laser units enhance the appearance of smiles, help treat gum disease, eradicate cavities and help whiten teeth.
Rounding out the top three is Invisalign. Every year with the feedback of the user dentists and the growing data of treated patients, the scope of this orthodontic device is expanding. Tooth movements that were once considered unattainable with Invisalign are now being achieved predictably. This is great news for adult patients who would forgo a straight smile because of not wanting to wear “braces.”
2015 will undoubtedly bring with it advancements in dentistry that will enhance our smiles, promote and maintain good oral health and most importantly help us compliment and support our choices for a proactively healthy lifestyle.
Stay tuned for some exciting news in the world of dentistry in early 2015!
