Shaving Foam vs. Oil

Winner: Oil

I purchased the Cromwell and Cruthers Shaving oil from Shoppers Drug Mart the other day after hearing a buddy rave about the closer shave he got form this tiny $6 bottle. It is small but effective! The oil was deceptively efficient at covering my face.  It recommends putting a few drops the size of a dime on your hand to cover your face.  At first I found it hard to believe that such a small amount of the oil could go such a long way so I began by putting triple the amount on my face. This resulted in a very smooth shave but a very slick, oily face. Once I realized that their recommended serving size was accurate, I had a very pleasurable shave. I found that the oil gave me a closer shave than generic foam, as well as, leave behind a mild and pleasant scent. The oil helped to moisturize my skin too, which is a huge advantage in the winter and when travelling to humid climates. The small size is convenient for travelling too. One of the best advantages of using oil over the foam is that you can see exactly where you are shaving. That’s important cutting your sideburns evenly or for getting rid of the tricky under-the-nostril stuble.  – Brian Greenwood
