Treatments for Clear Skin

Hey Beauties,

My friend Lisa at Holistic Beauties Blog is a guru for all things natural beauty. So here is a post from her with some all natural acne treatments.

We love to opt for natural cures to target our poor bumps…plus you probably have most of these ingredients right in your own kitchen… so your saving money and your skin!

Keep reading to find out our top 5 D.I.Y Spot Treatments.

1. Honey

Honey has wonderful antibacterial properties that are great for destroying and preventing bacteria from forming on your skin. Since honey is a humectant it naturally moisturises the skin.

To use: apply honey to acne as a spot treatment or as a full-face mask. Leave on for however long you desire, but we wouldn’t recommend falling asleep with this one on…unless you want to stick to your pillow!

2. Bentonite Clay+ Activated Charcoal

Bentonite Clay’s absorbent quality helps wick excess sebum from the skin, and its astringent properties work to shrink and tighten irritated and enlarged pores. Charcoal has the ability to absorb impurities up to 100 to 200 times its weight!!! Combine these two together and you have yourself a serious blemish fighting concoction.

To use: mix one activated charcoal capsule with one tsp of bentonite clay. Add in just enough water so that it makes a paste…you don’t want it to be too watery. Let dry then remove with warm water. Make sure to moisturise afterwards.

3. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is one the most powerful antibacterial treatments. It destroys the bacteria on your spots while preventing new pimples from forming. Tea tree oil significantly reduces the size of the pimples overnight while keeping redness and dryness at bay.

To use: Apply a small amount of tea tree oil to your spots. It is best to use a carrier oil such as jojoba oil to dilute the tea tree oil which may be too harsh for sensitive skin. Leave on overnight.

4. Lavender Essential Oil

If you need a more soothing essential oil for fighting acne, lavender is the oil for you. Lavender essential oil can help calm skin and reduce blemishes at the same time. Lavender oil has profound benefits on your skin because of its antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics. It soothes and nourishes the skin — treating acne, healing dry skin, and reducing the appearance of dark spots and scars caused by acne.

To use: put a couple drops right onto a q tip and softly dab the oil directly on spots. Leave on overnight.

5. Lemon Juice

The exfoliating properties in lemon juice are great for ridding your skin of dead skin cells while destroying bacteria and healing acne. Lemon juice can also help to dry out acne spots while reducing redness.

To use:apply a thin layer to spots using a q tip and leave on overnight.
