Creams that claim to fill fine lines and wrinkles with collagen are hogwash. Why? Skin care scientists have long proven that the collagen molecule is too large to actually penetrate the skin; instead, it just sits on the surface. That’s why injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm were created. Collagen creams make decent moisturizers, though, which is why lines may seem “plumper” after using collagen creams (dry skin can make fine lines more pronounced), but the effect is not long-lasting.
