Tips to Look Less Tired

We’ve all been there. You know, you stayed up late binge-watching Netflix and now the snooze button is your BFF? It really is amazing the difference getting your 7-9 hours of beauty sleep has on the way you feel, and the way you look. There’s a reason we all take, “Wow, you look tired!,” as a major insult. Let’s face it, that double-shot Americano may help us feel awake on the inside, but there’s no mistaking the puffy blood shot eyes accompanied by dark circles, and lack lustre skin created by a lack of sleep.

Not to fret though, in case this happens to you, and it does to the best of us, here are some tips to look refreshed in a pinch.

Shower

Hopping in the shower is the quickest way to wake yourself up. A cool trick to try is to alternate between hot and cold temperatures, to shock your body awake. The instant change in temperature relieves your body of fatigue and increases your mental alertness. Also cold showers are better for our skin, as hot showers can dry us out even more.

Hydrate

There are countless benefits to drinking water, but let’s focus on how water wakes us up. You get dehydrated over night, so chugging 1 L of water when you wake up will help rehydrate you, which will allow you to function better. Our brain tissue is 75% water so for our groggy sleep deprived brains sake, drink up!

Water also help hydrate our skin, so dull, sleepless skin benefits by simply drinking H2O.

Cold Compress

Its an oldie, but a goodie. Keep a couple of spoons in your Freezer, or some sliced cucumbers, and let them sit on your eyes for 1-5 minutes to reduce the puffy appearance of the eye. It will help with those dark circles too.

Moisturise

Hydration is the name of the game if you want to fake that 8 hour glow. Apply a light serum around the eye area and your facial moisturiser to give the skin some oomph.

Make-Up

Using an under eye concealer, mascara, a small touch of high-lighter on the inside corner of your eyes and cheek bones and a touch of blush can do a world of wonder. Also – brushing your eyebrows up is a sneaky way to look more awake, try it.
